Emperor Tent Coir Matting (Type 1, lengthways fit)

The ultimate flooring option for Emperors, our hardwearing Coir Matting instantly transforms a tent, taking it up a level of luxury.

Specially designed by Bell Tent UK for Emperor Bell Tents, our Indian-made Coir Matting is incredibly durable and looks wonderful, as well as creating a proper layer of insulation between you and the ground, and is ideal for people who want the very best set-up, or for professional or long-term users.

Two types of Emperor Coir Matting are available. The rectangular option (TYPE 1) runs lengthways along your tent. The square option (TYPE 2) runs width-ways across your tent, and has shaped corners to fit neatly along the base of the walls.

All of our responsibly-made coir comes from sources certified by the Coir Board of India, and is of a S3M4 rating – which happens to be same as used by Buckingham Palace in the Queen's annual tea party marquees! It has a very strong weave which gives good height to the coir, meaning greater insulation, more stiffness (so less rumpling and tripping) and a much longer life.

• Coconut is largely cultivated in coastal Kerala, the southernmost state of India. Coconut has a hard, fibrous, outer covering called husk.

This version comprises of two overlapping halves. Each section is longer than TYPE 2 at 1.9m x 5.8m. The corners have been shaped to match the groundsheet. The outside edges are hemmed with dark brown cotton but not the side that goes down the middle where both sections meet.

Please note: This coir is designed for the stated size of tent but actually comes up 20cm smaller to fit the internal dimensions. Please bear this in mind if buying for another structure.

Important note: Coir matting is great for long term pitching but not ideal for occasional camping trips as it is large and heavy (a rolled half-moon is twice the size of a packed down bell tent so you will need a large vehicle). Please consider this before ordering, as returns for “it's just too big” are expensive and at the buyer's expense as the size is not a manufacturing defect.
