We created the much-copied Ultimate Bell Tent in 2009, and it remains our best-selling style. Customers loved the Deluxe but missed the unique selling point of a Bell Tent, which is rolling the walls up. So, we developed the Ultimate with a zipped-in, heavy-duty groundsheet - a flexible tent offering you the best of both worlds!
Versatile heavy-duty zipped-in groundsheet
A robust zip circumnavigates the whole tent 10cm off the ground to create a "bath-tub" effect for extra assurance against flooding. This heavy-duty zip secures the groundsheet to the canvas and is hidden from the elements by a canvas flap. Keep it zipped for all the security of an integrated, heavy-duty groundsheet or unzip, roll up part or all of the walls and let the breeze blow through on lazy summer days.

The perfect camping tent for a young family of four
Our 4-metre Bell Tents have ample space for a young family of four with all of their kit. A 250cm centre pole allows good headroom and a lovely airy space, featuring an integrated D-ring fitting for accessories. Perfect for attaching one of our Tea Light Chandeliers, creating an amazingly warm, twinkly light on the shortbread-coloured canvas.

I've had this tent for 13 years and it's only just reached the end of its life. Despite taking pretty poor care of it when I was younger it's stood the test of time. Build quality is really good and I've been able to repair any (self inflicted) problems over the years. Just make sure you put it away bone dry and if you do get it wet and mouldy you can wash it and re-waterproof it fine. Just ordered the Touareg as a replacement as I prefer the rectangular footprint. I'd recommend the Touareg as you can open the doors for air flow when it's hot whereas unzipping and rolling up the sides of the bell tent can be a real faff.

The tent itself is very good quality and easy to put up and down, even on my own. However the bag previously used for the ultimate (we bought a 5m version 8 years ago) was both much higher quality, larger, and had a zip up and carry case rather than the current duffel bag style of this new one. It’s proven impossible to get the tent back in the bag both times we’ve used it, as it is far too tight and has to be inserted vertically, rather than placed in and zipped up. It’s so annoying, that we will email Bell Tent UK to request another, larger bag. Hopefully this can be sorted, as otherwise the tent would get 5 stars!
I’ve had my ultimate 400 for about 15 years. It’s had lots of use and still looks brand new and draws compliments on every campsite. I’ve been tempted by the newer lightweight bell tents but it’s just not the same. I love waking up to gentle light through the thick cream canvas. It’s worth wrestling the bag out of the car for!
